Manny Pacquiao faces yet another unseemly scandal as his foundation comes under scrutiny

Manny Pacquiao has become embroiled in a bizarre lawsuit amid claims that his foundation failed to pay shipping charges on a consignment that was seized by customs authorities in his native Philippines.
The Manny Pacquiao Foundation, which the pound-for-pound boxing king uses to support his favorite charities, tried to import a shipment of "relief goods" from the United States to the Philippines using an unnamed logistics company in 2009. According to TMZ, when customs officials found the containers to be holding used clothes – which do not qualify as "relief goods" under Filipino law and are subject to excise duties – the shipment was impounded.

The Good Shepherd

The pastor  of a rich suburban parish was speaking to the Sunday school kids. He told them that as the pastor he was like as shepherd and the members of his congregation were the sheep. He then put this questions to them: “What I does the shepherd do for the sheep?” A little fellow in the front row raised his hand and answered. “he fleeces them.” True enough, shepherds into the business for the purpose of fleecing, milking and feeding on the sheep. But when the Bible speaks of the leaders of God’s people as shepherds, it envisions leaders who feed, protect and feel with  the people as a good shepherd does for his flock.
The title “shepherd” in the Hebrew Bible refers primarily to God who shepherds his People. This is brought out in Psalm 23: “The Lord is my shepherd”. Here God is portrayed as a faithful and good shepherd who leads the flock into well-being and abundance (“green pastures”) and keeps them safe from every danger (“valley of darkness”) such that they want for nothing and fear no evil even as they are surrounded by their foes (wolves and lions).

IF WE TRUE LOVE, TELL HIM

For all practical purposes, this message could just as well be torn and thrown away, for it is unfortunately rarely applied. We ask: When is the last time I went to see a brother and, in love, pointed out to him something in his conduct which harmed others or gravely disedified them? Few of us have courage to put into practice this teaching of Jesus. What we too often prefer doing is simple comment behind our brother's (sister's) back on his or her shortcoming; this is easier than facing the concerned party. Nevertheless, an encouraging sign of times is that fraternal correction has been recently re-discovered by certain groups (Charismatic Renewal, Covenant Communities, etc. In the wake of these groups, perhaps each of us can begin to put into practice this forgotten teaching of Jesus and discover through it another dimension of brotherly love. This Exhortation of Jesus is not an

Realistic drawings look like photographs-k

To an untrained eye these pictures would look nothing more than standard photographs but it's not all black and white - they are in fact hand drawn. These are the works of 47-year-old hyperrealist artist Paul Cadden, who, often just using a pencil, is able to recreate photos in amazing detail.

Japan 'worst case tsunami' could reach 35-metres

A 35-metre (115-foot) tsunami could hit the Japanese coast in the wake of a massive earthquake, an expert panel has said after revising its worst case scenario projections following last year's disaster.
If a 9.0-magnitude quake struck in the Nankai Trough off central to western Japan huge swathes of the Pacific coastline could be inundated, with 20-metre-plus waves hitting areas from Tokyo down to the southwestern island of Kyushu.
At the town of Kuroshio in southwestern Kochi prefecture the tsunami could reach 34.4 metres -- the highest level projected under the scenario, the Cabinet Office panel said late Saturday.
