Strikeforce fighter, Ronda Rousey, has a new sponsor, Gaspari Nutrition. I wonder how many more new sponsors will jump on the bandwagon after her fight with Strikeforce champion, Miesha Tate, on March 3rd on Showtime—whether she wins or loses.
Based on how many videos I see tweeted, I believe that Ronda is the hardest working social media, interview-giving, BJJ-training-video-maker, female fighter on the planet. Ronda knows how to promote a fight and she's putting in her time to make sure that the event is successful.
In a press release, Ronda's new sponsor stated, "Gaspari Nutrition®, a globally distributed sport nutrition company, is proud to announce they have signed Olympic Judo medalist and Strikeforce title contender "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey to Team Gaspari.
Ronda represents an elite class of athletes that have had the rare opportunity to compete at the highest levels of competition on the world stage. Rarely is there such a blend of athletic mastery, functional strength, and beauty in one package. Ronda will be a true asset to Team Gaspari and an excellent representative for all hardcore female athletes around the world," said Vice President of Brand Strategy and Product Development, Daniel Pierce.
Look for Ronda to appear on both Gaspari TV and Gaspari's global advertising campaign representing a new breed of Team Gaspari athletes alongside UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar and fellow rising MMA star "All American" Brian Stann. She will be actively blogging at ronda.gasparinutrition.com and making appearances with Team Gaspari around the country. Gaspari Nutrition is known for hard-hitting and clinically validated products and Ronda will now be among the fitness elite that are members of Team Gaspari."
Do not put your feet on her theatre seat!
Ronda is not just an accomplished fighter, she sparkles in interviews and on chat shows like "Attack of the Show".
In my opinion, "professional arm-snapper" Ronda handled this interview like a champ. She's a funny, engaging and entertaining tough girl. It makes sense that she admires Gina Carano. Ronda has more in common with Gina than with any of the other (past or present) female champions.
Ronda told the story of how the woman sitting behind her was annoying her. She said that she pulled the girl's UGG boot off her foot and threw it. Naturally, that woman's date—plus the three other guys who were there with their dates got upset.
Ronda quotes from "Attack of the Show" video:
"My mom taught me to armbar things instead of giving me Barbies."
"I think I'm the most dangerous, unarmed woman on the planet."
"I lost my shoe (flip-flop) during the fight (at the movie theatre)."
A female MMA fighter showed up on the UFC website. I was very surprised to see an image of Ronda Rousey grappling with UFC fighter, Nick Diaz, who is preparing for his UFC 143 fight with Carlos Condit for the UFC Welterweight interim title belt on Feb 4th, on the front page of the UFC website.
You know what they say—give them an inch and they'll take a mile.
I can't wait to see who will be invited to participate in the first UFC superfight between two of the best—and most entertaining female fighters.
On the video, Nick Diaz said, "I try to get in as much judo practice as I can. Any top level judo person, I'm gonna ask…and try to find new tricks. I try to use it a lot more than wrestling because it works for my style."

Ronda's ground game looks solid, but no one has seen her use her striking skills. She hasn't needed to use her punching or kicking weapons because—so far— she's finished each of her four opponents with an armbar, in less than one minute of the first round.
